The audit tracked changes in vegetation, forest cover, land use, fire incidences, and species richness. This exercise conducted with Vertify.earth assesses the impact at the level of individual farms in the portfolio, including a comprehensive Biodiversity Assessment (OI5929). It has two components: (1) an assessment of land-use and farming practices as well as farmer demographics, collected through surveys deployed on ground and (2) A geospatial analysis of biodiversity metrics using remote-sensing data from relevant layers and indicators. The dashboard and interactive map visualize & track how indigenous farming and sustainable land use practices affect ecosystems in the fragile Himalayan region.

With this overview, we are able to assess if nature-positive practices are reversing degradation, protecting biodiversity, and supporting climate resilience, as well as how they impact people—especially indigenous and rural communities—on the ground.
